toothbrushbrunetteHave you always regarded your dental hygiene products strictly as necessities? If so, you may not put much thought into these choices when you are standing in the drugstore, picking up the occasional item like floss, a toothbrush, or toothpaste. While it’s certainly admirable if you are keeping up with attention to brushing and flossing every day, there is something to be said for choosing the correct products (so you especially like – no love – the choices you have made). Allow us to offer some suggestions that will help you feel a bit happier with your brush selection.

Choose Soft Bristles

You might hear this over and over again without putting much stock into it but this is actually essential information (upon which the success of your dental hygiene rests). Select a toothbrush with soft bristles. We urge you to take this advice seriously because deviating from it can result in irritation, problems with sensitivity, and actual damage to tooth and gum tissue.

Like What You See? Buy It!

Trust what you’re looking at when you’re choosing your dental hygiene products. Do you like the color? Good! It’s wonderful to feel happy about the item you use on a daily basis. Now how about the handle and the head – does the handle look like it will be comfortable to hold and does the head look like it will allow you to brush every surface of your smile without difficulty? Sounds like a wonderful purchase.

Try One Brush, Then Try Another

If you happen to luck out on your first try then loyalty to the type of toothbrush you like will motivate you to continue brushing twice a day (two minutes each time you brush). However, if you don’t “fall in love” on the first go around, go ahead and test out different varieties. Try different brush heads and switch from manual to electric. You will find what works for you.
