Woman in blue shirt smilingMany people do their best to visit their dentist at least twice a year for a general checkup and cleaning with their family dentist. In most cases, bi-annual visits to the oral health care professional of your choice ranks as more of a suggestion than a rule. Your local Rowlett, Tx dentist highly encourages you to visit on a regular basis (about every six months) to maintain your smile, but depending on your mouth issues, conditions, or lack thereof, the recommended visits may vary.

Your Dentist

Once you’ve sat in the dental chair at Redmond Dental Care, the dentist will examine your teeth, tongue, mouth, and other facets to ensure any abnormalities are identified and addressed. If any issues or conditions should arise, your dentist will advise the best course of action based on your medical records and severity of the problem she may have found. Advanced dental technology, such as the list below, will be used to ensure your mouth’s state and health.:

Digital X-rays: Imaging technology that provides an electronic representation of your teeth.

Intraoral Camera: A handheld wand that is used to examine your mouth in more detail and reach the hard to view regions of your mouth.

The Cleaning

The professionally trained hygienist will then clean your teeth. Plaque and tartar are two different stages of bacterial film that can accumulate on your teeth, along the gumline, and below the gumline. The film is what protects anaerobic bacteria from perishing due to exposure to oxygen. Removing this plaque and tartar not only reduces the chance of bacterial inhabtiants, but it also helps with reducing the chance of cavities and/or gum disease from developing.

A soft polishing will be completed to smooth out your enamel, decreasing the chance of plaque and film from accumulating along your teeth and gumline.
