Children’s Dental Health Care

Not every general dentistry office has the experience and bedside manner to offer high-quality dental care specifically to children. As a comprehensive family dental health team, Dr. Nam and our staff have extensive experience in caring for patients of all ages, particularly young children who are still becoming familiar with visiting the dentist regularly.

What children’s dental care means

We advise bringing children for an initial visit to our office by the time they reach their first birthday, or shortly after the first primary (baby) tooth erupts from their gums. Typically, children don’t need to visit us again until the age of three, when you should start them on a regular schedule of preventive visits.

  • Preventive treatment – As young children learn the basics of dental hygiene and preventive care, education at the dentist’s office plays an essential role. In addition to carefully cleaning and checking your child’s teeth and gums, we’ll also focus on teaching them fun, but effective, ways of cleaning their teeth at home and sticking to good oral health practices (such as controlling their sweet tooth). The more children learn about the basics of good dental health, and the sooner they learn it, the better chance they have of successfully preventing dental health concerns well into the future.
  • Restorative treatment – Increasingly better hygiene and regular preventive dental care go a long way in keeping your child’s smile healthy. However, there may come a time when a cavity develops, a tooth chips, or another concern arises that requires restorative treatment. To help preserve your child’s healthy, natural smile while also restoring their compromised tooth, we can customized a minimally invasive solution, such as tooth-colored fillings or tooth bonding, to address most common types of concerns.
